Description
A great pour over starts with the right ratio: 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water (about 1 tablespoon to 4 ounces if you’re not weighing). Use a medium-fine grind, similar to table salt, and heat your water to around 200°F. If using a paper filter, rinse it to remove any papery taste. we like to test our decanter with hot water for a minute, then dump the water before starting your brew. Then add your coffee and pour just enough water to wet the grounds — this “bloom” lasts about 30 seconds and helps release trapped gases. Continue pouring in slow, steady circles, keeping the bed gently saturated until you reach your total water amount. The brew should finish in 2.5–3.5 minutes, giving you a clean, bright, well-balanced cup.
